Elizabeth Anne (Stines) Schmitt 78, of Franklin, died suddenly November 7 in the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester. She was the wife of the late William Schmitt who died in 1989.
Born in New York City, March 2, 1938, the daughter of the late Francis J. and Helen (McDermott) Stines, Mrs. Schmitt was raised in New York City and had lived in Bellingham and Whitinsville before moving to Franklin 3 years ago.
She had held several administrative positions after her children were raised, retiring from Eastern Dentist Insurance Company.
Elizabeth became a volunteer at the Franklin Library after her retirement.
She enjoyed yard sales and was an avid “Deal Shopper”. Her ten grandchildren brought great joy in to her life.
She is survived by her children, Ken Schmitt and his wife Laurie of Blackstone, Linda Mooshian and her husband Jack of Haverhill, Susan Laime and her husband Jeff of Franklin, Edward Schmitt and his wife Lynn of Douglas and Anna Doyle and her husband James of Auburn.
She is also survived by her brother Francis Stines of Centereach, New York.
Elizabeth was the beloved grandmother of Lindsay, Hillary, Emily, Sarah, Melanie, Paige, Brooke, Isabella, Liam and Kaleigh.
Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 12 in St. Mary’s Church, Franklin at 10:00.
Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Franklin.
